1. Who We Are
Nutritionality ("we", "our", or "us") is a mobile application that uses AI-powered image analysis to provide instant nutrition estimates for meals you photograph. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our app.
2. Information We Do NOT Collect
We do not collect, store, or transmit:
- Your name, email address, or any account information
- Your location or GPS data
- Your meal history, food logs, or calorie goals
- Device identifiers, advertising IDs, or analytics data
- Any photos or images you take or upload
3. How Meal Scanning Works
When you scan a meal, the photo is sent over an encrypted HTTPS connection to our server. Our server passes the image to OpenAI's API to generate a nutrition estimate (calories, protein, carbohydrates, fat, fiber, and sugar). The nutrition result is returned to your device immediately.
Your photo is never stored on our servers. It is processed in memory and discarded as soon as the response is sent back to your device. We do not log, cache, or retain meal images.
4. Data Stored on Your Device
All meal logs, calorie goals, and nutrition history are stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage — a standard on-device storage mechanism. This data:
- Never leaves your device except as described in Section 3
- Is not synced to any cloud service by us
- Can be cleared at any time by deleting the app
5. Camera Permission
Nutritionality requests access to your device camera and photo library solely to let you photograph or select meals for nutrition scanning. We do not access your camera or photos for any other purpose.
6. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to power core app functionality:
- OpenAI — processes meal images to generate nutrition estimates. Images are transmitted to OpenAI in accordance with their Privacy Policy. OpenAI does not use API-submitted data to train their models by default.
- RevenueCat — manages in-app subscriptions and purchase validation for the Nutritionality Pro plan. RevenueCat may collect a device identifier and purchase history to verify and restore subscriptions. No personal health or meal data is shared with RevenueCat. See their Privacy Policy for details.
We do not use advertising networks, analytics SDKs, or social media trackers.
7. Children's Privacy
Nutritionality is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child has used the app in a way that raises privacy concerns, please contact us.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the app after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
